Auto-resume: your sessions pick up on their own as soon as credit is back

The plan limit always hits at the worst moment - usually in the middle of the night, halfway through a task. Rather than losing everything, Survol parks the agent and resumes it automatically as soon as credit is back. When you wake up, the merge request is waiting for you.

Automatic resume of AI sessions with Survol

Anyone who has driven an agent through a real task knows the moment: the agent is making good progress, the plan is sound, and then - plan limit reached. The session stops dead. If nothing has been planned for it, you lose the thread, the context and the momentum. You have to start again by hand and hope you can find where you were.

That is exactly the kind of friction Survol refuses. Our founding principle: tokens are the customer's money, and the customer's time is valuable too. A plan interruption should never cost you a whole session.

You are asleep. The agent waits patiently. Credit comes back. It resumes. You discover the result when you wake up.

How it works

When a session hits the plan limit, Survol throws nothing away. It does three things, in order:

  1. It freezes the session state - context, current step, objective - instead of letting it fail.
  2. It queues the session with the 🌙 marker, visible on the dashboard and in your notifications.
  3. It resumes on its own as soon as credit becomes available again, and picks up where it stopped.

When you wake up: an "auto-resume 🌙 - session finished" notification, the merge request open, the preview ready to review. You had nothing to watch and nothing to restart.

Why this is not just a "retry"

A plain retry would start from zero and pay again for context you have already bought. Auto-resume builds on everything Survol keeps around the session: a context composed as tightly as possible, an objective attached to a version, a preserved history. Picking up is continuous, not a restart - so it is faster, and cheaper in tokens.

It is also a building block of a wider ambition: an agent that works in the background, resiliently, while you do something else. Autonomous scheduling is becoming the norm everywhere in AI; Survol applies it to software development, with resilience on top.

What it changes

The best automation is the one you barely notice. Auto-resume makes no noise: it simply turns a frustrating interruption into a short pause - and hands you, in the morning, exactly the work you were expecting.
